658th anniversary of granting city rights to Tyczyn
A concert featuring music from the 1920s and 1930s
Back to newsOn March 14th, at the invitation of the City of Tyczyn, I had the great pleasure of performing a concert with vocalist Julia Honkisz to celebrate the 658th anniversary of Tyczyn's city charter.
To mark this occasion, the Katarzyna Sobczyk Municipal-Community Cultural Center in Tyczyn, at the "Spichlerz" Cultural Heritage and Tourist Information Center, prepared a celebratory event where residents and honorary guests associated with the City and Commune of Tyczyn could celebrate this special occasion.
At the request of the organizers, we prepared a concert featuring music from the 1920s and 1930s. The audience could hear works by Mieczysław Fogg, Eugeniusz Bodo, and Hanka Ordonówna, among others.
Thank you very much for your trust and for the invitation!
Below is a brief summary of the concert, with excerpts from several songs. To learn more about the event, I encourage you to read the article on mgoktyczyn.pl. An excerpt is also included below.
“On March 14th, the "Spichlerz" Cultural Heritage and Tourist Information Center in Tyczyn hosted an event dedicated to the town's history, with a particular focus on the interwar period. The event brought together residents, local government representatives, and anyone interested in local heritage.
The event was organized by the Katarzyna Sobczyk Municipal-Community Cultural Center in Tyczyn, a branch of the Cultural Heritage and Tourist Information Center, and the Tyczyn Land Lovers' Society.
The event began with a screening of the film "Tyczyn. Places. People. Time," prepared by Rafał Mostowik in collaboration with Zofia Domino (TMZT member) and Alicja Kustra (director of the Tyczyn City Council). The film introduced participants to the atmosphere of the town's past and served as an introduction to the rest of the meeting.
Zofia Domino then presented the realities of life in Tyczyn between 1918 and 1939. Her presentation was met with great interest and allowed participants to better understand the everyday lives of residents nearly a century ago.
The artistic portion of the event featured a recital by […] Julia Honkisz and Brajan Kokoszka. The recital featured well-known pieces from the interwar period, creating a unique atmosphere and transporting listeners back to the era of pre-war elegance.
The highlight of the meeting was the opening of the exhibition "Tyczyn from 1918 to 1939 in Old Photographs." The exhibition presents archival photos showing the everyday life of residents, architecture and, above all, people.”
